A Tampa man was struck by a pickup truck and killed as he walked across U.S. 41 (50th Street) in east Hillsborough County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The man was identified as 36-year-old Raymond Michael Krug.

According to troopers, a 2007 Ford F-150 was traveling north on U.S. 41, north of Palm River Road, as the Krug crossed east to west into the pickup’s path at 4:27 a.m.

Krug was struck and died at the scene, troopers said.

The driver of the pickup, 54-year-old Albert Edward Delisle, of Ruskin, was not injured, according to an investigator’s report.

Northbound U.S. 41, which was closed several hours during the investigation, reopened to traffic just after 9 a.m., the highway patrol said.
