Things to do in the Carrollwood area this weekend

Just for kids: Carrollwood Village hosts its 10th annual Kid's Day at the Village from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Millennium Garden, 4535 W. Village Drive.

Childrenís activities and adventures include games, live entertainment, inflatables, face painting, dance, crafts, video games, sports, ponies, a petting zoo, giveaways and more. Admission and parking are free.

Food trucks galore: The Generation Food Truck Food Festival comes to Ben Hill Middle School, 5200 Erlich Road, from noon to 5 p.m.

The family event features more than 25 gourmet trucks from across Florida along with vendors, live music and entertainment. Proceeds benefit Ben Hill Middle School.

Girl gone wild: Amy Schumer brings her standup act to Ferguson Hall at the Straz Center, 1010 N. MacInnes Place, at 8 p.m.

With her blend of girl-next-door looks and edgy humor, Schumer is the creator, star and writer of ďInside Amy,Ē her new Comedy Central television show.

The show is intended for mature audiences. Tickets start at $32.50 (plus service charges), and may be purchased online at strazcenter.org or call (813) 229-7827.

Red carpet romp: Enjoy an evening of award-winning music with the Carrollwood Centerís own Community Chorus and Broadway Bound, when the center presents ďA Red Carpet EventĒ at 8 p.m. at 4537 Lowell Road.

Walk the red carpet and mingle with the centerís stars and then enjoy inspirational music from the stage and screen.

Zoo loves moms: Bring your mother to Lowry Park Zoo Motherís Day weekend and she gets in for free.

On Saturday or Sunday, moms get free admission with the purchase of their sonís or daughterís full-priced ticket. (Paid ticket can be child or adult admission.) For moms to receive the free ticket offer, the paid ticket must be purchased on Saturday or Sunday only and cannot be combined with other discounts.
