ST. PETERSBURG -

Police have arrested a suspect in the rape of a 19-year-old woman this morning.

Arrested for sexual battery was John Charles Ross Andrews, 27, of St. Petersburg.

Detectives will investigate whether Andrews is connected with the Sept. 20 sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl on a path that goes under an Interstate 275 overpass.

Earlier today, investigators released surveillance video taken outside a Walmart which they said shows the image of a man who raped the 19-year-old who told authorities she had left the Walmart at 3501 34th St. S. when she was attacked at 38th Avenue South and 38th Street at about 5:30 a.m., St. Petersburg police said.

The suspect rode up on a bicycle, grabbed the woman and dragged her into some bushes, St. Petersburg police said. Detectives obtained the security video, and the victim identified the man in it as her assailant.
