Sarasota County deputies are asking for the public's help to locate a 10-year-old girl and her mother.

According to a report, Emmelia I. Ward, 10, has been under the care of her maternal grandfather for the past year. This morning, Keller J. Ward, the child's biological father, fought with the grandfather, took the child and left in a vehicle with the child and her mother, Jessica A. Ward.

Deputies are concerned for the safety of Emmelia and her mother because of the manner in which the incident occurred and an outstanding civil order related to visitation.

Emmelia is 4-foot-9, 76 pounds and was last seen wearing a red shirt with the word "Peace" on it and a black/blue skirt.

Keller J. Ward is 36 years old, white, 6-foot-2 and 186 pounds.

Jessica A. Ward is 36 and white.

They were last seen in a large grey sports utility vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office at (941) 861-5800.
