Deputies: Road-raging Riverview woman tried to ram man’s car on U.S. 301

RIVERVIEW — A 61-year-old Riverview woman is facing an assault charge after she chased another driver and tried to ram his vehicle with hers, deputies said.

Deborah Marshall approached David Mendelson-Curry on the 15000 block of Lucky Gem Drive about 9:30 a.m. and began to "verbally abuse him for unknown reasons," according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The two had never met, deputies said.

When Mendelson-Curry drove away to avoid conflict, Marshall followed in her own vehicle, deputies said. She accelerated and tried to hit Mendelson-Curry’s vehicle head-on near the intersection of Ambleside Boulevard and U.S. 301 S, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

At the intersection of U.S. 301 and Big Bend Road, Marshall swerved at Mendelson-Curry again, prompting him to speed up to get way.

Marshall drove her car at a high rate of speed toward the back of Mendelson-Curry’s vehicle several times in an attempt to hit it as they drove north on U.S. 301, the Sheriff’s Office said. Fearing for his life, Mendelson-Curry called 911.

Deputies arrested Marshall about 10:20 a.m. at the corner of U.S. 301 and Balm Riverview Road.

She was booked into the Hillsborough County jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was being held in lieu of $3,000 bail, jail records show.

Her listed home address is listed on the same block on Lucky Gem Drive where deputies said she approached Mendelson-Curry. Thursday’s arrest is her first in Florida, records show.
