Polk County Sheriff's Office investigators are asking for the public's help after a man was found dead after a hit-and-run crash this morning.

Around 6 a.m., deputies found the body of Adrian Rivas, 38, 136 Piano Lane, Davenport, next to the northbound lane on Highway 27 and Ronald Reagan Parkway in Davenport.

Rivas was walking home from work on the east shoulder of the northbound lane of Highway 27 when he was struck.

Investigators think he was hit by a commercial-type vehicle, possibly a Mack or Oshkosh type truck. The vehicle is missing oval, amber flush-mounted lights, possibly from the front and/or right side of the vehicle.

Anyone who may have been traveling in the area at the time of the crash, or who may have any information about this investigation, is urged to contact Traffic Homicide Sgt. Greg Goreck at (863) 297-1100, or (863) 298-6200.
