A Tampa native will be sworn in next week as the new Clerk of the Florida Supreme Court.

On Monday, Tallahassee attorney John Tomasino will become the Court’s 21st clerk since statehood, spokesman Craig Waters said.

The 45-year-old Tomasino was born and raised in Tampa, attended the University of South Florida and graduated from Florida State University Law School in 1996.

He previously was administrative director for the Public Defender’s Office in north Florida’s 2nd Judicial Circuit.

Tomasino takes over for retiring clerk Thomas D. Hall, who has served since 2000.

November’s oral arguments before the court also are set for next week.
