Former aide to Jeb Bush quits state Board of Education

Published:

TALLAHASSEE – A one-time top aide to former Gov. Jeb Bush is abruptly resigning from the panel that oversees the state’s public schools.

Sally Bradshaw resigned from the State Board of Education on Sunday. She once served as Bush’s chief of staff.

Bradshaw’s one page letter said the resignation was effective immediately.

Her letter states that family obligations will prevent her from completing her term. Bradshaw’s term on the board was due to expire in December.

Bradshaw in recent months had questioned some of the moves taken by the seven-member panel. She questioned a decision to create a safety-net so annual school grades would not drop more than one letter grade.

She has also been a proponent of “Common Core State Standards” that have come under fire from conservatives.
