Politics saw it all: Top 10 stories of 2011

The world of politics saw it all in 2011 with big stories ranging from the death of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden to the report of a blind woman's attorneys referencing Monty Python in her suit against Gov. Rick Scott.

Americans were forced to examine the divisive nature of politics after being shocked at the shooting of U.S. Rep Gabrielle Giffords at a campaign stop in Arizona, which also killed a federal judge and five other people outside a supermarket.

But, politics is about quirky stories and that is what Florida does best. The state was entertained when a blind woman's attorney filed a lawsuit against Scott, drawing a link to the Monty Python movie scene where the peasant discusses political repression.

And, Scott returned to the offbeat news category when he took aim at the limited marketability of anthropology students, forgetting that his own daughter has the same degree.
