A 31-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash on the John Ringling Causeway early this morning, according to the Sarasota Police Department.

Ronald Ochoa, of the 2300 block of 19th Street, Sarasota, was riding his 2005 Suzuki eastbound about 1:32 a.m. in the 900 block of the causeway when he struck a 2010 Nissan Sentra from behind, police said. Ochoa died at the scene.

Witnesses said he had been traveling at a high rate speed, weaving in and out of traffic, as he approached the causeway, police said.

The four occupants of the Nissan were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Anyone with additional information about the crash is asked to contact Officer Bales at (941) 915-3635.
