A man and woman approached another man in a wheelchair outside a Sarasota drug store and asked for his medications, and after not getting any, beat the victim just after midnight Monday.

The pair approached the 45-year-old man as he came out of Walgreens, 3601 Bee Ridge Road, and told him they wanted to buy his prescriptions, the sheriff's office said. The victim had only over-the-counter allergy medicine.

As the victim got into his vehicle, the male suspect tried to grab the man's satchel from around his neck, failed, and then he hit the victim multiple times in the face, the sheriff's office said. The male suspect ran to a white SUV driven by the female suspect and they fled the scene.
