Take oath to uphold the truth

Enough has been said about political savagery in recent elections. It is clear by now that we don't like it. How individual Republicans and Democrats choose to view their opponents is American, but it is not American to demonize and spread hate or make misleading statements in the process of electing people to the sacred trust of serving the people. There should be consequences for candidates who lie to the people. They should take an oath to uphold the truth in their presentations to the people, both in their candidacy and while serving. Fraud or even twisting the facts is a serious offense and not acceptable, but it has become the ignored norm. The disgusting fact, beyond the lies, is that some voters protest by not going to the polls. We own this right to vote. We treasure truth. So show them.
