A driver was killed in a fiery crash Tuesday morning after his pickup truck veered off a Riverview road and hit a tree, authorities said.

The deceased, a male, has not yet been identified by authorities.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said the truck was headed west on Rhodine Road, just past Boyette Road, when the pickup hit the tree head-on.

Only the pickup was involved and there were no passengers, authorites said.

Firefighters were called and found the pickup on top of the knocked-down tree “heavily involved in fire,” Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said. The flames were extinguished by firefighters.

The crash is under investigation.

No other details were provided by the fire department or sheriff’s office.
