Investigators have released a video recording of a Dollar General store robbery in which a safe was cleaned out and an employee tied up.

About 7:20 p.m. Sunday, a man entered the store at 6735 S. Florida Ave., Lakeland, and appeared to be shopping, the Polk County Sheriff's Office says in a news release. He selected a few items from the shelves and approached the cashier, asking to use the restroom.

As a second store employee escorted the man to the back of the store, the man demanded that the store safe be opened. The man emptied the safe, tied up the employee and fled the store.

No getaway vehicle was seen.

The man is white, about 6 feet tall and weighs 200 to 215 pounds. He has brown or black hair. He was wearing a white ball cap, light-colored cargo shorts and a white shirt.

Anyone with information should contact Detective David Lopez at (863) 534-6379 or (863) 534-6200.

To remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477.
