A motorcyclist whose bike had fallen in a collision on Interstate 75 early Friday was struck by an oncoming vehicle and killed, troopers said.

Corey Allen Lynn, 25, of Thonotosassa, and his 2007 Harley-Davidson were laying in the highway’s center lane, just south of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in east Tampa, due to a previous crash, troopers said.

At 2:13 a.m., a 2003 Ford Expedition driven by Rodney L. Fields, 56, of St. Petersburg, approached. Fields did not see Lynn or the motorcycle in the road and collided with both, troopers said.

Lynn sustained serious injuries and was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he died about 5 a.m., troopers said.

Fields was not injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol did not provide information on the previous collision involving the motorcycle.

Anyone with information on the incident was asked to contact the highway patrol at (813) 631-4020.
