A man was shot to death near his Lakeland home early this morning and a friend was undergoing surgery after the two returned from a night of partying in Ybor City, authorities said.

Homicide investigators with the Polk County Sheriff's Office said the shooting occurred at 4:20 a.m. on Swiss Drive.

Deputies arrived to find 23-year-old Sean Anthony Williamson, 613 Swiss Drive, dead in the road near his home. Deputies said Williamson and a friend went to Ybor City to party Saturday night and when they returned home, a dark colored car drove up and blocked in the victim's car.

Two unknown men got out and fired several shots at both Williamson and his friend, whose name was not released by deputies. Both were wounded, deputies said.

The shooters then sped off, as Williamson's friend drove himself to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where he was treated for his gunshot wounds, deputies said. Williamson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the shooters is asked to call the Polk County Sheriff's Office at (863) 298-6200. To remain anonymous, the public can call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477 or visit heartlandcrimestoppers.com.
