A car fire in a parking garage led to the evacuation of a supermarket today, Tampa Fire Rescue said.

Units were called to the Greenwise Publix, 2401 W. Azeele St., about 11 a.m. after a 1991 Mazda Millennia caught fire on the second floor of the store's parking garage, officials said. The store was evacuated.

Aided by the garage's sprinkler system, personnel were able to control the fire in 15 minutes. Afterward, a vent truck was used to force fresh air into the store and garage, and about two hours later customers and workers were allowed to return to the store, officials said.

Fire Investigator Joe Hotz determined the fire was caused by electrical malfunction and ruled it an accident.
