The boyfriend of a woman missing since 2008 was charged in her death Monday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives arrested William J. Cumber III, 42, an inmate in Charlotte County, and charged him with murder in the presumed death of his girlfriend Sabine Musil-Buehler.

Musil-Buehler, 53, has been missing since Nov. 4, 2008, when Cumber said they had an argument and she left her Anna Maria Island residence on Magnolia Avenue, the sheriff's office said.

Detectives have searched several locations on Anna Maria without success, but some of her belongings were found in a wooded area near the beach in July 2011, the sheriff's office said.

Cumber was arrested for a violation of probation in December 2009, and sentenced to 13 years.

He was transferred today to the Manatee County Jail from the Charlotte Correctional Institution.
