BOCA RATON – A South Florida high school teacher faces a criminal charge after allegedly using Facebook to solicit sex from students.

Deputies with the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office arrested Stevie Glasspool Thursday. She has been charged with soliciting a child for unlawful sexual conduct using a computer.

The Miami Herald reports that the former social studies teacher who taught at Mavericks Charter High School in Pompano Beach used Facebook to invite students to sleep over at her Boca Raton home. Authorities said she also offered the students marijuana as an incentive.

According to sheriff’s investigators, one message read: “I don’t want you to fall in love with me but I also don’t want you to hit it and quit it either.” In other messages, Glasspool told a student “your body is amazing” and “you will be graded on performance.”

Police launched an investigation after a 17-year-old student told his parents about the sexually-suggestive messages and they reported it to authorities.

Glasspool, who had no criminal record, has not been accused of having sex with any of the students, but police said there could be more victims.

The Herald reports that Glasspool stopped working at Mavericks Charter High School at the end of the last school year and began teaching at Hollywood Academy of Arts & Sciences. The Hollywood school said in a statement that officials have placed Glasspool on unpaid leave pending further investigation.

Some students at Mavericks High were shocked to hear of the teacher’s arrest.

“When I saw her image, it hurt me to the core,” said Stacy Williams, 17. “I wouldn’t have graduated without her.”

Glasspool led an active life on the internet. She created a website last year for her upcoming wedding, but her fiancé told the Herald that he had called off the ceremony. In another website featuring her photography, Glasspool describes herself as “pretty feisty” when she gets mad, adding, “but mostly I’m laid back.”

Investigators said they were interviewing at least two students who have come forward. Police ask anyone with information to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
