A teenager is facing a homicide charge after he allegedly shot another teenager during a drug deal on New Year's Day, Manatee County sheriff's detectives said.

Danny Waiters, 17, is accused of the shooting death of Paul Grieco, 16, deputies said

Around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Waiters was at 1832 Manatee Ave. E. in Bradenton with two other men for what detectives believe was a drug-related transaction. Those names are being withheld at this time.

Grieco, Brandon Keisel, 20, and Dillan Contreras, 20, drove up to the listed address where they were approached by Waiters. Detectives say Waiters pointed a handgun into the window of their vehicle and fired several times.

Grieco died at Manatee Memorial Hospital, Keisel was taken to Blake Medical Center where he is recovering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Contreras was not injured.

The investigation is continuing, and additional charges and more arrests are expected. Anyone with information asked to contact the Manatee Homicide Investigation Unit at (941) 747-3011, Ext. 2519, or Crime Stoppers at (866) 634-TIPS.
