FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities are investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a bus and killed at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport.
Broward Sheriff's officials said 68-year-old Cheryl Bazilius exited her vehicle Saturday afternoon and was walking to meet her husband who had just arrived on a flight. As she returned to the parked vehicle, she fell and was struck by a private charter bus.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
None of the roughly 10 people on the charter bus were injured. Authorities said bus driver, 61-year-old Woodrow Minor, was transporting passengers to a cruise. No charges have been filed. The crash remains under investigation.
Authorities closed the arrival lanes for about four hours, snarling traffic at the busy airport.
