STAY OF EXECUTION FOR FORMER ESCORT SERVICE OWNER
A former escort service owner convicted in the slayings of two Florida women has been granted a temporary stay of execution. Marshall Lee Gore was scheduled to die by lethal injection at the Florida State Prison Monday at 6 p.m. The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals approved a motion filed by Gore's attorney less than two hours before the procedure was expected to begin.
SENTENCING DELAYED FOR FORMER SOUTH FLORIDA CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE
A federal judge has delayed the sentencing of a former South Florida congressional candidate in an election fraud case with links to U.S. Rep. David Rivera. Justin Lamar Sternad pleaded guilty in March to federal campaign violations, including accepting illegal contributions and filing false reports. In court papers, his attorney said his client was a pawn in a bigger political game.
HEAT PARADE THROUGH MIAMI
Tens of thousands of people pack the NBA champions' parade route through downtown Miami on Monday morning. The parade was followed by an event for season-ticket holders at the team's home arena, where the parade ended. Miami won its third NBA championship Thursday night, topping the San Antonio Spurs 95-88 in Game 7 of this year's finals.

Donald James Smith made his first court appearance Sunday on charges of murder and kidnapping in the death of 8-year-old Charish Perriwinkle. Her body was found Saturday in the woods near a Jacksonville church, hours after she was last seen at a Wal-Mart with Smith.
SEARCH SUSPENDED IN SOUTH CAROLINA RIVER FOR FLORIDA MAN
Authorities have suspended their search for the body of a Florida man missing in a South Carolina river. Officials on Monday halted the search for the body of Thomas Hill of Tampa, Fla., due to equipment problems and the potential for storms in the area. The search is set to resume early Tuesday.
