BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Investigators believe a Tampa Bay area couple found dead in a forest was the result of a murder-suicide.
The Hernando County Sheriff's Office reports that Michael and Glenna Jones, both 66, were found early Sunday morning in Chassahowitzka Forest.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reports that its deputies conducted a welfare check at their Dunedin home around 12:15 a.m. Sunday after their son reported a disturbing call form his parents.
The Jones' car was missing, but deputies learned that the couple might have gone to Hernando County. Deputies there located the car several hours later. The bodies were found outside the vehicle.
Hernando deputies are investigating the possible murder-suicide, but Pinellas deputies say the wife appeared to have been bound before leaving the home.
