Hillsborough County firefighters have contained a roughly 100 acre brush fire in Ruskin, just west of Interstate 75.
Firefighters responded to the fire at Highway 674 and 19th Avenue NE about 3:30 p.m., said Ronnie Rivera, spokesman for Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.
At that time, the fire was moving north towards Apollo Beach, threatening some homes in the area, Rivera said.
Firefighters focused their resources on the northern boundary and brought the fire under control, he said.
The fire continued to burn mostly cow pasture and at one point threatened some farm equipment, but firefighters stopped the spread before it could do any damage, Rivera said.
By 7 p.m., the fire was contained and firefighters were focusing on hot spots along the southern front, off of 19th Avenue NE, Rivera said.
No injuries or damage to equipment was reported.
Firefighters were investigating a cause.
