Last time, it was pepper spray in the hallways of McLane Middle School.
This afternoon, someone lit a smoke bomb in the same sixth-grade wing.
The hallway was filled with smoke, and sixth-graders were evacuated to the cafeteria about 1:30 p.m., said Stephen Hegarty, spokesman with the Hillsborough County school district.
Two students were transported to a local hospital, where they were expected to be treated and released, the school spokesman said.
School officials are trying to figure out who set off the bomb.
Today’s incident comes less than two weeks after a female student unleashed pepper spray in the hallway. A total of 36 students and a school employee were taken to the hospital after the May 3 incident.
A total of 93 students and three teachers were affected by the pepper spray.
“The end of the school year is not a time for pranks and misbehavior,” Hegarty said.
McLane is located at 306 N. Knights Ave. in Brandon.
