Sink, Elia to be honored by Junior Achievement

Former Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink and Superintendent of Hillsborough County Public Schools MaryEllen Elia will be honored at the Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay Hall of Fame ceremony next month.

Sink, currently senior adviser at Hyde Park Capital, LLC, will be honored with the Laureate Award, which recognizes the most outstanding individuals who serve as role models for youth through their professional accomplishments and commitment to Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay, the group said.

Elia will receive the Spirit of Achievement Award, which recognizes individuals who display exceptional leadership in supporting academic excellence through Junior Achievement programs and building the volunteer and financial capacity to advance its mission.

The Hall of Fame event will also recognize the business education group's corporate partners, educators and volunteers.

The event will be held at Busch Gardens at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28.
