Sarasota school bus driver accused of kissing, touching student

A Sarasota County school bus driver was arrested after deputies said he inappropriately touched and kissed a 16-year-old student.

Javier Aramayo-Angeles, 51, of 4001 Beneva Road, No. 330, Sarasota, was charged with battery and released from jail after posting bail of $1,000.

The student told deputies she usually was the last person on the bus on Aramayo-Angeles's route. She also said he provided her with his cellphone number at the beginning of the school year.

At 3:15 p.m. Thursday, she was the only student on the bus, and he took a different route and pulled over at Bayshore Road and Bay Acres Avenue in Osprey, an investigator's affidavit said.

Aramayo-Angeles then told her to walk to the front of the bus to sit, which she did, and he sat next to her in the seat, the affidavit said.

He massaged her lower back, sides and abdomen, the affidavit said, then kissed her on the cheek, forehead and face.

He asked her to reciprocate, the sheriff's office said, and she refused and demanded to be taken home.

The teen then reported the incident to her father, who contacted school officials.

The school district reassigned Aramayo-Angeles within the transportation department to a position with no student contact, deputies said.

Anyone with information on Armayo-Angeles was asked to call the sheriff's office at (941) 861-1719.
