Thousands of Hillsborough County students will hop onto buses Tuesday morning for the first day of school, scarcely giving a thought to the logistics and manpower that went into making sure the bus was where it was supposed to be, when it was supposed to be.
Maintenance workers have been inspecting and repairing buses during the summer, and an army of drivers made dry runs Monday of their regular routes.
When the last opening bell rings this morning for the official start of school, some 1,100 buses already will have picked up and dropped off an estimated 91,000 students.
