Hillsborough school board OKs appointments, transfers

TAMPA — The Hillsborough County school board on Tuesday approved the following appointments and transfers, effective Monday:

• Dina Langston was appointed principal of McLane Middle School. Currently Brandon High School’s assistant principal for curriculum.

• Chris Jargo, currently the district’s supervisor of business technology, was appointed to the assistant director of career and technical education position, vacated by Paul Gansemer, who was promoted to a new position.

• Ralph Stewart III, the district’s supervisor for innovative and virtual instruction programs, will become supervisor for community education fees and special projects.

• Crystal Carson, Forest Hills Elementary School principal, will become the principal of Potter Elementary.

• Potter Elementary Principal Kimberly Thompson will now serve as principal of Foster Elementary.

• Clair Mel Elementary Principal Shelly Hermann will serve as principal of Forest Hills Elementary School.

• McLane Middle Principal Frank Oliver will be a principal on special assignment at the district’s administrative support center.

• Jay Blavatt, Plant High’s assistant principal for student affairs, will transfer to King High to serve in the same position.

• Deanna Fisher, Spoto High’s assistant principal for student affairs, will now serve as the school’s assistant principal for curriculum.

• Turkey Creek Middle Principal Dennis Mayo will now serve as the principal coach for Area 3. He replaces Holly Saia, who was promoted to director of instructional support.

• Ina Jean Helmick, district Clearing House supervisor, will now be supervisor for assessment and Empowering Effective Teachers.
