Bucs’ Jackson to offer Hillsborough school reading program

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Vincent Jackson is teaming up with three Hillsborough County elementary schools to launch a new reading program.

The Salute to Reading program is designed to reward outstanding students at Ballast Point, Chiaramonte and Tinker elementary schools, according to a school district news release.

Throughout the school year, nine students – one from each grade – at each school will be selected to participate monthly based on criteria developed by reading coaches and administrators.

Those students will be invited to a meet-and-greet event with Jackson at One Buc Place.

The mission of the Jackson’s foundation, Jackson in Action 83, is to support military children and families. Many students in families stationed at MacDill Air Force Base attend the three selected elementary schools.

On Tuesday, Jackson will visit students in third through fifth grades during assemblies at their schools.

The foundation will announce a children’s book authored by Vincent and his wife, Lindsey, the first in a series of three.
