A 26-year-old man is in stable condition at Tampa General Hospital after a dump truck hit and rolled onto his pickup this morning.

The accident happened at about 10 a.m. at the intersection of county roads 39 and 672 in eastern Hillsborough County. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office, Ynefre Tomas, 37, was driving a dump truck loaded with dirt when he turned in front of Adam Souders’ Chevrolet pickup.

Both vehicles ended up in a roadside ditch, with the dump truck on top of the pickup. The accident left much of the dump truck’s load of dirt on the mangled pickup.

It took Fire Rescue about an hour to extricate Souder from the truck. He was taken by medical helicopter to Tampa General.

Tomas was cited for violation of right of way, according to the sheriff’s office.
