The deaths of a Brandon man and woman, whose bodies were found after an apparent domestic dispute, were the result of a murder-suicide, Hillsborough County deputies say.
After a preliminary investigation, deputies say Troy Shannon, 49, shot his live-in girlfriend, Sherrie Boyd, 44, and then turned the gun on himself.
The bodies were found Thursday at 506 Coulter Road around 7:15 p.m. after Shannon's parents returned home, deputies say. Troy Shannon and Sherrie Boyd lived in a detached apartment behind his parents' home.
Investigators estimate the shooting occurred sometime between Sunday and Monday.
Early indications were the deaths were the result of a domestic dispute, a sheriff's department spokeswoman said.
