A 43-year-old man has been charged with false imprisonment after deputies say he wouldn't let a woman out of his Mercedes in Sarasota.

Joel Concepcion also faces charges of battery and fleeing from authorities, deputies said.

According to deputies:

Deputies heard a woman screaming in black Mercedes just after 3 a.m. at the intersection of 17th Street and Tuttle Avenue.

Deputies tried to pull the vehicle over but Concepcion fled. Deputies chased the Mercedes and then chased Concepcion on foot before using a Taser to subdue him.

The woman said she got into Concepcion's car voluntarily but when she wanted to get out, Concepcion refused to let her go and physically held her in the car.

The woman was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
