A 28-year-old woman was shot while standing in the doorway of her St. Petersburg home early Tuesday.
Her two children, ages 2 and 4, were inside at the time of the shooting but were not hurt, police said.
Police said the woman opened the door of her home, on the 1000 block of 13th Avenue South, just before 3:50 a.m. to talk to someone she knew. A few minutes later, a man in the black ski mask appeared and started shooting, police said.
The woman was wounded in the shoulder and taken to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment. Police said she was recovering.
Investigators discovered several bullet holes that entered the home from the outside “as well as items of evidentiary value,” police Lt. Antonio Gilliam said in a news release.
