PLANT CITY — Two men were found shot to death this afternoon outside some apartments on State Road 60, and dozens of deputies searched Thursday night for their killer.
The bodies were found outside a former motel at 3802 E. State Road 60 that had been converted to apartments, Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee said.
This morning, the sheriff’s office identified the second victim as 17-year-old Jose Rolando Aguirre of Mulberry. The other victim was identified as Lloyd Travonte Gordon, 20, of Lakeland.
Officers searched into the night for a man who was seen running east from the apartments, Gee said.
More than 30 officers from the Hillsborough and Polk sheriff’s offices and the Plant City Police Department were using bloodhounds and a helicopter in the search.
“We suspect he may still be in the area,” the sheriff said.
Deputies said the suspect is a young Hispanic male who was last seen wearing a red shirt, khaki cargo shorts and white sneakers. He was seen leaving the scene on foot, running towards the Twilight Zone Lounge, 4010 E. State Road 60.
The apartments are a short distance from the Polk County line.
Detectives said they think this was not a random act of violence and that it was possibly drug related.
