Two hospitalized after Ybor City shooting, robbery

Two people are hospitalized this morning after they were shot in Ybor City.

The man and woman were walking to their vehicle near 15th Street and Second Avenue at 12:30 a.m. when they were approached by a male and female suspect, according to Tampa police.

The male suspect told the man to surrender his money, and he complied. The female suspect then approached the female victim, who was in the vehicle, and the two began to argue, police said. The female suspect pulled the female victim from the vehicle and they fought.

The men ran over, and the male suspect shot the robbery victim in the chest then pushed the female victim and shot her in the abdomen while she was on the ground, according to police.

The suspects fled on foot.

Both victims were transported to the hospital, suffering from non-life threatening injuries, police said.
