The eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 near Kathleen Road in Polk County were closed for more than an hour today after a truck crashed, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
According to a report, at 3:55 p.m., a 2012 GMC box truck driven by Edgardo Barbosa, 28, of Kissimmee was eastbound in the center lane of I-4 approaching Milepost 31 when it changed to the outside lane to pass another vehicle. The truck struck a metal object in the roadway, causing Barbosa to love control of the vehicle, which crossed the eastbound lanes and struck a guardrail, FHP said. The impact sent the truck back to across the roadway, where it overturned in the center and outside lanes.
Barbosa was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, FHP said.
The crash closed the eastbound lanes of I-4 until 5:15 p.m.
