Teen wounded in Lakeland drive-by shooting

A teenager was shot Thursday afternoon in Lakeland while standing outside a gas station, the Lakeland Police Department said.

The 15-year-old boy was shot in his lower back and was transported by helicopter to a Tampa hospital. The boy’s condition wasn’t known.

At around 5:15 p.m., the teenager was standing outside a car at a Chevron gas station, located at 1615 W. Memorial Blvd., when shots were fired from a small gray car that was heading west on Memorial Boulevard, police said.

No one has been arrested.

The case remains under investigation.
