One suspect was arrested while another remains at large after a Sarasota high school student was fatally shot early Monday outside a Manatee County movie theater, authorities said.

Jasper Dudley, 19, of Bradenton, was taken into custody Monday night, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said. Authorities were still looking for Frank Brice, 19, of Palmetto.

Both men were wanted on murder charges in the shooting death of 17-year-old Teria’le Rawls, a senior cheerleader at Riverview High.

Investigators said Rawls was involved in an altercation with a group of people in the parking lot of the Royal Palm Theater, 5126 26th St. E., about 2 a.m. when she was shot.

Investigators said Rawls was being driven to Sarasota Memorial Hospital by friends when their vehicle was pulled over by Florida Highway Patrol troopers in Sarasota County. That’s when she was pronounced dead.

Grief counselors were called to Riverview High and met with several students Monday, although it was during summer break.

Anyone with information to help locate Brice was asked to call (941) 747-3011, ext. 2547, or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-634-TIPS (8477).
