They usually patrol the beat. This year, some Tampa police are singing to the beat.

The Tampa Police Department has unveiled a YouTube video offering tips to shoppers to avoid becoming crime victims. In it, officers sing an anti-crime tune to the melody of "Deck the Halls," but instead of "Fa-la-la-la-la," they sing, "Lock it, lock it, lock it, lock it up."

The video coincides with the beginning of the department's anti-crime mall operation "Jingle Bell ROC," which sees officers on horseback, motorcycles, bicycles, golf cart-style utility vehicles and unmarked cars patrol mall parking lots

Officers will patrol in shopping areas through Jan. 1.
