A 12-year-old Tampa girl who had gone missing when she didn’t return home after school Wednesday has been located, Tampa police said.

Tatianna Marie Bonner, 12, was located by a HART bus driver in Hyde Park at about 11 p.m., police said.

When police send out a missing person alert, HART bus drivers receive the information and are asked to be on the lookout. The HART bus driver recognized her and called police, who rushed to the scene.

Bonner didn’t return home to a family friend’s home after school. Every school day, a bus from Roland Park Magnet School drops her off at the friend’s home on North Jefferson Street at about 4 p.m., police said.

When Tatianna didn’t arrive home after school, the family friend called Bonner’s father. He headed to the school, 1510 N. Manhattan Ave. next to Jefferson High School, and searched the area for his daughter.

About 6 p.m., he waved down a Tampa police officer, and the family friend called 911 to report that Tatianna was missing.

Police officers searched the area in cars, on foot with bloodhounds and helicopters.
