Police said they are searching for a man who entered a South Tampa woman’s apartment, tied her up and stole valuables from her home early Friday morning.
Just after midnight, the man followed the woman into her apartment, on South MacDill Avenue just south of Gandy Boulevard, police said. Once inside, he tied up the woman, then ransacked the apartment and stole several valuable items. Police didn’t release details of the items stolen.
The suspect was in the home an estimated 45 minutes. Police are also investigating whether the victim was raped, police said.
Once the suspect left, the victim was able to free herself. She ran to a neighbor’s home and called 911, police said.
Police continue to search for the suspect, who investigators described as black, 25 to 35 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, and with a stocky build and a deep and scruffy voice.
He was last seen wearing black clothes and a black beanie.
