Tampa police officers are looking for a man who tried to carjack a woman Thursday morning and then robbed a deliveryman of some cash.
The suspect banged on a woman’s car window just after 9 a.m. as she was parked at 1512 E. 8th Ave., Tampa. He demanded her car and then tried to open a car door. When the suspect couldn’t get in because the vehicle’s doors were locked, the victim started to blow the car’s horn and the suspect ran off, police said.
Just before 10 a.m., the suspect approached a deliveryman who was sitting in his truck with an open door at the 1600 block of East 8th Ave., Tampa.
The suspect, who had a sharp object that may have been a knife, grabbed the deliveryman’s shirt and demanded cash, police said. The suspect took cash from the victim and ran off heading west on 8th Avenue, police said.
No one was injured.
Police investigators have gotten surveillance images of a person of interest and are working to identify him.
He is described as a light-complexioned man who is either black or Hispanic, police said. He is muscular and clean shaven, police said.
He was carrying a red backpack, police said.
