Tampa police are investigating a deadly crash involving a stolen car that may have been fleeing from the scene of gunfire in East Tampa this morning.

Two Tampa men, Willy Boyd III, 20, and Algernon Belin Jr, 28, died in the single-car crash when the driver of the black Honda Civic lost control at 46th Street and Lake Avenue, near the Garden of Memories cemetery, at around 3:38 a.m., police said.

It’s not clear which of the men was driving the car, police said.

A minute earlier, witnesses reported seeing a black Honda Civic speeding away from an area where shots were fired near 3700 Lowry Court, police said.

Police said the Honda the men were riding in was reported stolen from the Hollywood Nights strip club at 3003 N. Howard Ave. in West Tampa earlier in the morning.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. Stay with TBO.com for updates.
