A man has been arrested after fatally shooting a 49-year-old Tampa man Friday morning after an argument with another man at an east Hillsborough County apartment complex, deputies said.

Nathaniel Brewer, 49, was found shot multiple times in the chest and head, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Brewer had gone to 9510 Newdale Way about 7:20 a.m. to visit but got into an argument with Kenyatta Bethley, 34, inside the residence, deputies said. The two went outside, where the dispute became physical before Brewer was fatally shot, deputies said.

Bethley fled on a bicycle, deputies said, but he was taken into custody approximately 2:30 p.m. at a friend’s home in Brandon.

According to Hillsborough County jail records, Bethley has been arrested multiple times since 1997 on charges ranging from drugs and robbery to sexual battery and domestic violence. He has served time in state prison, records say.
