A Tampa man was arrested Thursday night in a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday night, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
Ricardo Carmenate, 26, was arrested at his Tampa home on charges of first-degree murder with a firearm and attempted first-degree murder with a firearm. He was being held at Orient Road Jail with no bail.
The shooting victim was identified as José Javier Roque-Apaulaza.
The shooting occurred about 9:40 p.m. Saturday, when Carmenate and Roque-Apaulaza met at a parking lot at 8830 Beacon Lakes Drive, Tampa. They met to complete a drug transaction, the sheriff’s office said.
During the transaction, Carmenate took out a gun and shot Roque-Apaulaza multiple times in the upper body, the sheriff’s office said.
The case remains under investigation.
