A Tampa man accidently discharged his handgun early Friday at a hospital emergency room, where he was being treated for a medical issue, authorities said.
Lynn Boatman, 67, arrived at Town & Country Hospital, 6001 Webb Road, about 1:20 a.m., deputies said.
After being placed in a bed, Boatman removed the Glock 36 from his back pocket, took out the magazine and attempted to clear the chamber when his finger accidentally pulled the trigger, deputies said. A .45-caliber round was fired through a chair into the tile floor.
Boatman, who has a Florida concealed weapons license, immediately placed the weapon down, the sheriff's office said.
There were no injuries reported.
The State Attorney's Office was notified and will not press charges, the sheriff's office said.
