One suspect wanted in a drive-by shooting that occurred over the weekend in Lakeland turned himself in Thursday night, the Lakeland Police Department said.
Meanwhile, a second suspect in a second shooting is still at large.
D’Angelo Johnson, 20, of Lakeland, turned himself in to police at around 10:45 p.m. without incident, police said.
Johnson has been charged with aggravated battery with a firearm after shooting a 15-year-old who was standing outside a gas station at 2nd Street and Jewel Avenue about 7 p.m. Saturday, police said.
Johnson shot at the 15-year-old, who was hit in the back and arm, police said. The victim was taken by emergency helicopter in critical condition to a Tampa hospital.
Earlier in the day, the victim had been in a vehicle that was involved in another shooting, and police are still looking for the suspect in that shooting, Dante Williams, 16, of Tampa. There is a warrant for Williams’ arrest for aggravated battery with a firearm.
That shooting took place at about 3 p.m. when the vehicle was heading south on Brunnell Parkway near George Jenkins Boulevard. Williams shot at the vehicle from another vehicle, striking a 15-year-old occupant in the left arm, police said.
Anyone with information on Williams is asked to contact police at (863) 834-6900.
