Suspect sought in Tampa area bank robberies

Hillsborough County sheriff’s detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect in three recent bank robberies.

The most recent robbery occurred about 9 a.m. Thursday at an USAmeriBank branch at 3702 W. Bearss Ave., Tampa. According to detectives, the man presented a note demanding money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Detectives said he is also a suspect in the following robberies:

• Bank of America, 9810 U.S. 301 S., Riverview, at 12:54 p.m. Aug. 9.

• Synovus Bank, 4003 W. Neptune St., Tampa, at 3:48 p.m. Aug 4.

Surveillance video of the man was released by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect was described as about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 140 to 150 pounds, with salt-and-pepper facial hair and dark brown eyes.

On Thursday, he was wearing a white baseball cap, a burgundy long-sleeved T-shirt and white cargo shorts.
