Suspect sought in Hillsborough, Pasco bank robberies

Published:

A 42-year-old man is being sought in several bank robberies in Hillsborough and Pasco counties that occurred Monday and Tuesday.

Christopher Michael Nelson robbed a Chase Bank branch in Brandon, a SunTrust branch in Wesley Chapel and two Wells Fargo branches in Zephyrhills, according to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.

In each case he handed a note to the teller demanding money, and fled the banks on foot without showing a weapon, according to the sheriff’s office.

Nelson is described as 5-foot-8, about 140 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes, the sheriff’s office said. He has a monkey tattoo on his left shoulder and a tree tattoo on his right leg.

The vehicle he is using is a late-model black, four-door Ford Expedition or Explorer, with faded paint on the front bumper, the sheriff said. The SUV could have either of these Florida tags 2086IQ or 474QDV.

Anyone with information in any of the robberies is asked to call (800) 873-8477 (TIPS).
